What I’m doing now

Coding with AI
I’ve been spending quite a bit of time exploring using AI in my workflow. The latest is the use of Cursor AI and Claude AI to supercharge the coding process. As part of my experimentation, I’ve moved this site from WordPress to Astro. You can read more about the work done in the Colophon.

Moving again
Our rental contract ended last month, so we’ve been spending the two weeks before and after that looking for a new place, moving, and then settling in. Interestingly, quite a few close friends commented on how frequently we seem to be moving. We’ve been at the previous place for two years, the same length as the place before.
Moving is quite hassle so we avoid it where we can, but several factors pushed us towards the decision to move. In the past, we move in the week the contracts ended. This time, we had almost two weeks of overlap to give us ample time to get the new place ready and then move things over in batches.
This meant less stress with a less intense moving schedule, but it also meant that things were in a limbo with the move stretched over weeks. With my home office set up to a good enough level, I can dive back into content creation.

Wedding in Johor
After the months of planning and preparation, we finally pulled off the wedding in Johor, Malaysia. We brought my parents-, brother- and cousin-in-law from Jiangxi to Shenzhen, to Singapore, and then Malaysia.
Getting our marriage registered in Malaysia took longer than expected due to bureaucracy, but we managed to get it sorted. Fetched the bride, had the tea ceremony, and the wedding banquet.
Shout out to our bridal entourage for ensuring that things went smoothly on our big day, especially with me being a shade of myself after getting food poisoning the day before.
After the wedding, we took a trip to Malacca, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore with my parents and in-laws. More in a full post soon!

Wedding banquets in Jiujiang
We just got back to Shenzhen after two days on the road. Wifey and I drove back to her hometown where we hosted wedding banquets for her friends and family. There was the betrothal dinner the night before and then a wedding lunch on the actual day of the banquet. There were sandwiched between a few days of chilling in the tranquility of the countryside.
The drive to Jiujiang was slow because of heavy rain, but it took longer to get back to Shenzhen. We avoided the holiday crowd by leaving Shenzhen a couple of days before the Labour Day holidays started, but had to rush back before the holidays ended.
Gearing up for the banquet back in Malaysia.

We got married!
Getting the paperwork done was quite a process. I had to fly back to Malaysia to apply for documents, translate them into Chinese and legalising them with the Chinese Embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before completing the formalities in China.
Milestone unlocked and I’m extremely blessed with the showering of blessings from our loved ones. Barely have time to take a deep breath before we dive into the actual ceremonies.
Refreshing my sites
Despite the busy schedule, I’ve managed to find time to fiddle with the looks of this blog, MechaBay and WuxiaSociety. This is my annual ritual of refining the styles and getting myself up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques in web design.
Translating Mandarin Duck Blades
One of my goals for this year is to finish at least one Jin Yong novel and another non-JY novel translation for WuxiaSociety. I’m into the fourth chapter of Mandarin Duck Blades. I didn’t pick this novel on purpose. It just happened.
